Hi, I'm Chelsea Wolfe from the Future Arts design and accessibility team. In this video, I'll be giving you a brief walkthrough of the functions available on our website's accessibility widget. I'll cover how to access the widget using a screen reader or visually, and I'll demonstrate some of the settings it offers, such as seizure safe, ADHD friendly, and cognitive disability profiles. 0:00 Hello, my name is Chelsea Wolfe. I am with the Future Arts design and accessibility team, and I'm just going to do a brief walkthrough of just some of the functions that we have available on our accessibility widget on the website.
0:13 I am a Caucasian woman with long dark brown hair, and today I'm wearing a dark shirt. So we're going to visit futurearts.co, that's F-U-T-U-R-E-A-R-T-S.co.
0:27 And if you are using a screen reader, the keystroke to access success. The screen reader function that's compatible with our accessibility widget, you will hit Alt-1 for Windows or Option-1 for Mac to turn it on.
0:44 To turn it off, you hit Alt-8 for Windows or Option-8. If you'd like to open the accessibility widget, the keystroke will be Alt-9 for Windows or Option-9 for Mac.
0:59 If you're going to access it visually, you'll find it in the bottom right-hand corner of the web. It's going to be a blue circle icon with a person on it.
1:11 You'll click on that or hit one of the keystrokes to open it up and you'll find several settings. I'm just going to quickly go through just a few of them just to give you an example of what it can do.
1:24 So for seizure safe profile, you can toggle that on and it's going to dim the colors and it's going to stop some of the animations that are flashing for vision impaired.
1:36 For vision impaired profile it's going to enhance the colors and make it easier to read.
1:44 For ADHD-friendly it's going to highlight where you are at on the screen to give you focus.
1:55 For the cognitive disability profile it's going to assist with reading focus and give blocks around the headlines
2:12 For keyboard navigation just as I mentioned, when toggling it on you will hear that little pling (pause) bing (laughs) that happens that will let you know whether or not you have toggled it off or on. So for keyboard navigation, when that is activated, automatically blind-user screen reader mode will turn on as well. It is compatible with JAWS, NVDA, Voice Over, and Talk Back.
